These chunks of basalt boulders are on a table (mesa) of land west of the Rio Grande, very near the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Archeologists estimate that most of these particular images were made 400 to 700 years ago.
After viewing the petroglyphs I took a short drive to a neighborhood that I used to live in when I was in the 4th and 5th grade. It used to be on the edge of Albuquerque but now is swallowed by suburbia.
