My daughter Laura Beth is applying Rain X to keep off all that rain I will be driving through! 
Finally I am packed and ready to hit the road! I have what I think is most of what I will need.....as well as a few comfort items like my sewing machine....I figure if I run out of money I can always sew my way through Canada.
After asking a few of the locals, we found out they were biting in Lacassine Reserve....now this is a very Large fresh water pond, but the last hurricane blew the crabs in there and now they have multiplied and the offspring are sterile because of the fresh water and so its a free for all.....we only caught a dozen this day but the fun and laughter was abundant!! It was a family affair, my daughter Annie and her long time friend Chip from Colorado, my sister Pam and her husband Kevin and my mother and me.....we started this whole excursion at 5 AM! I sure miss doing all those Cajun things!!!! 
After months of talking about it and years of dreaming about it, I finally found the perfect van for me!! I found it on CraigsList (that Free classified site on the Internet)...if you have ever been to that site you know that you can search geographically....well I had been searching locally of course and then began searching in places where I had friends and family as I knew I could fly to a location, and drive the van back, but have the extra bonus of seeing someone! I thought I was going to Denver as George was looking mighty hard, but as it turned out I located one in Lawrenceville, Georgia and since my brother Greg lives near Atlanta, he went and test drove the van and gave it a thumbs up!! I made the deal over the phone and took the next flight out! She is just what I wanted! A white Ford Econoline 8 cylinder house on wheels! After leaving Atlanta and following my intuition and inclination, I drove her straight south to a Florida Beach south of Panama City and proceeded to get stuck on that gorgeous white sand!! Well heck I didn't know that I was in a 7 ton vehicle and should not have been there....it just looked so tempting.....at least I knew not to spin the tires and bury the axle...
Then all of a sudden out of nowhere appears this dark cloud with rain and lightning....I thought well ok...the rain will pack the sand and I can drive out.....I didn't have time to test my theory as it wasn't long before a big ass truck and a nice strapping Buck came to rescue me! That is another story and so my adventures have begun!!

This 3 day party has been going on for 31 years!! We all converge on Abbe's Ranch in the hill country about an hour from Austin, Texas. What a fun campout! The theme this year was Broke Ass Moon ....and so in keeping with tradition, the dessert contest on Saturday night brought out the finest...
There are all sorts of musicians as you can imagine being so close to the Music Capital of the World...here are Charles, Abbe and John fronting for the CAJUN band that was to follow...we danced all night and they wore us out! 
There is a gorgeous swimming hole on the ranch with a flowing stream no matter how droughty it gets! 
There are plenty of people to add special stylish touches to the campout! Noble showed off some arrowheads he found and also brought veggies from his garden. 
Anne brought some Mahi Mahi she caught and we all cooked up a nice meal at our little campsite.
