Another ruin not far from Yaxchilan, is Bonampak. The most impressive thing about this site are the painted murals that are inside those three rooms. I ran out of camera battery just as we got there so the mural photos are not mine.......
Every square inch of these interiors were painted with scenes of enthronment, war and self sacrifice.

Those are very Egyptian-looking murals...or maybe the Egyptians were cribbin' from the Mayans. What connections have you heard/researched?
